Despite releasing over five years ago, Grand Theft Auto V has again shot its way back up to #3 in our ranking of Twitch’s most-watched games (by total live hours). Most succesfull Rockstar game has always fared well on the ranking, but the popularity of Role Playing (GTA RP) mod, particularly on the NoPixel server, has seen GTA V outperforming the Twitch viewership of giants like Dota 2, CS:GO, Overwatch and Apex Legends.

Comparably to same period last year GTA V generated over five times more hours of live viewership on Twitch in March

According to the Newzoo Game Streaming Tracker GTA 5 gives way only to the League of Legends and Fortnite, the total number of views since February has grown from 10 million hours to 58.2 million.

Unlike other game modes – in RP mode player start in the role of a citizen that can choose his own way in this world and find pleasure in the routines of everyday interactions. Of course, there are still gunrunners, mob bosses, and other criminal elements in this game mode. But there are also a place for beat cops working a daily grind, security guards working by shifts, and car insurance salesmen. So far, April has seen continued growth for Grand Theft Auto V on Twitch, meaning its impressive viewership shows no signs of slowing down.
